The Birmingham Public School District is  honored to have the President Elect of MAME (Michigan Association for Media in Education), our state organization supporting and connecting media specialists as a member of the BPS Library Media Department.

Sue represents our state and the BPS district in national meetings of The American Library Association and American Association of School Librarians in the year 2011-2012.

One of her main duties as President Elect is to plan the 2011-2012 MAME annual conference.  This year the MAME  conference is November 2-4in Lansing, celebrating Libraries@Future.Now!

Conference attendees will join some 2,000 colleagues from 133 countries to participate via Illuminate in the Library 2.011 Worldwide Virtual Conference, which overlaps with MAME.  BPS staff will be part of the global conversation exploring how the digital age is impacting the roles librarians and libraries play in how we learn and consume information. These are exciting times.  The goal for this conference is to keep the media specialist current on the newest trends in 21st Century Learning and how we can best support students, staff and community in this endeavor.  With the informational overload in society today, it is critical that our learning community become efficient and ethical users of technology.  It is an exciting time for media specialists!

In January 2012 Sue will step up as President of MAME and serve the following year as Past President on the Executive Board.

Library Media Specialists attended Alan November's Building Learning Communities International Conference in Boston over the summer. The conference is archived, and the learning was delicious!
